Run a fully managed PostgreSQL database on your CloudSonic server with TimescaleDB, backups, and scram-sha-256 auth

TL;DR PostgreSQL

PostgreSQL is available as a fully managed database on CloudSonic with automated backups, 3 node replication, TimescaleDB support, and scram-sha-256 authentication.

PostgreSQL is a powerful open source relational database available as a fully managed database on CloudSonic. It is the preferred database for API hosting and application hosting workloads that require advanced data types, complex queries, or strict data integrity enforcement. CloudSonic managed PostgreSQL instances include TimescaleDB support, automated daily backups, and external connection support for connecting from local development environments.

Prerequisites

PostgreSQL as a Managed Database on CloudSonic

CloudSonic manages PostgreSQL at the infrastructure level, handling installation, configuration, replication, backups, and performance tuning so you never need to touch a database configuration file. Every managed PostgreSQL instance runs on a 3 node replication setup with write-ahead log compression and scram-sha-256 authentication, automated daily backups with one click restore, and TimescaleDB support included by default. External connection support means you can connect from your local development environment or any external application using standard PostgreSQL connection strings.

Warning Never expose PostgreSQL's direct port (5433) publicly; all external connections should go through PgBouncer on port 5432 or via an encrypted Tailscale tunnel.
